How Flood Insurance keeps dangerous homes standing

How I made this: Data analysis performed in R Studio on publicly available anonymous flood insurance records and inadvertently-released addresses of repeatedly-flooded homes. Story map built with Mapbox.

Though originally conceived as a one-off project, I’ve since documented the code and made it available to the Post and Courier’s interactive desk as a template.

Find the graphic here and the story here.

See the code on Github.
